♥**♥ In the name of Allah; the Most Beneficent; the Most Merciful: ♥**♥

This is naught else than a reminder unto creation,

Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight.

And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation.

DUA  (Supplication)

DUA is primarily (Supplication) it is an Arabic word written here in English letters. Three small letters that make up a word and a subject that is large and breathtaking.  This word ‘dua’ could be roughly translated to mean supplication or invocation (to ALLAH).  Although neither word adequately define dua.

In Islamic terminology dua is the act of supplication.  It is calling out to ALLAH the Almighty; it is a conversation with ALLAH , our Creator, our Lord, the All Knowing, and the All Powerful. In fact the word is derived from the Arabic root meaning to call out or to summon.  Dua is uplifting, empowering, liberating and transforming and it is one of the most powerful and effective act of worship a human being can engage in.  Dua has been called the weapon of the believer. It affirms a person’s belief in One God: ALLAH and it shuns all forms of idolatry or polytheism. Dua is essentially submission to ALLAH and a manifestation of a person’s need for ALLAH.

Prophet Mohammed, may the mercy and blessings of ALLAH be upon him, said, “A slave becomes nearest to his Lord when he is in prostration. So increase supplications in prostrations.’’

“The supplication of every one of you will be granted if he does not get impatient and say, `I supplicated my Lord but my prayer has not been granted’.’’

At this point in understanding exactly what dua is, it would be easy for someone from a Christian background to think that dua is prayer. Dua certainly holds certain similarities to the prayer of Christians, however it should not be confused with what Muslims call prayer. Prayer or in Arabic-Salat, is one of the pillars of Islam, and in performing the five daily prayers a Muslim actually engages in a physical form of Dua asking ALLAH to grant them Heaven through their actions. Throughout the prayer one also supplicates to ALLAH directly.

For Muslims prayer is a set of ritual movements and words performed at fixed times, five times per day.  ALLAH says in Quran,

“Verily, the prayer is enjoined on the believers at fixed hours”.

 (Quran 4:103)

Muslims pray in the early morning before sunrise, in the middle of the day, in the afternoon, at sunset and at night. Prayer is an act of worship, in which a Muslim reaffirms his belief in One God and demonstrates his gratefulness. It is a direct connection between God and the believer and it is an obligation.

Dua on the other hand is a Muslims way of feeling that connection to ALLAH at anytime, in any place. Muslims call on ALLAH frequently throughout the day and night.  They raise their hands in supplication and ask for His help, mercy, and forgiveness. Dua incorporates praise, thanksgiving, hope, and calling on ALLAH to assist the one in need and grant his or her requests.

Dua can be made for the individual, their family, friends, strangers, those in dire circumstances, for the believers, and even for the whole of humanity. When making the dua it is acceptable to ask for good in this worldly life and in the hereafter. A person making dua should not hold back, but ask ALLAH to grant both the largest and smallest requests.

Prophet Mohammed, may the mercy and blessings of ALLAH be upon him, encouraged the believers to make dua.  He said, “The dua of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is readily accepted. An angel is appointed to his side. Whenever he makes a beneficial dua for his brother the appointed angel says, Ameen. And may you also be blessed with the same’”.

Although making dua is not an obligation, there are many benefits to making dua to ALLAH frequently and with full submission. Feeling the closeness to God that comes with sincere dua, it increases faith, gives hope and relief to the distressed and saves the supplicant from the despair and isolation. Throughout the Quran, ALLAH encourages the believer to call on Him, He asks us to lay our dreams, hopes, fears and uncertainties before Him and to be sure that He hears every word.

You Alone do we worship and You Alone do we ask for help.

(Quran 1:5)

And your Lord says, Call on Me; I will answer your (prayer). But those who are too arrogant to worship Me will surely find themselves in Hell, in humiliation.

(Quran 40:60)

Say, O My slaves who have transgressed against their souls; despair not of the Mercy of Allah: For Allah forgives all sins; for He is oft Forgiving, most Merciful.

 (Quran 39:53)

Say, Call upon Allah, or call upon ArRahman (The Most Beneficient): By whatever name you call upon Him, (it is well): For to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names.

(Quran 17:110)

And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the supplications of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.

(Quran 2:186)

Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of ALLAH be upon him, called dua the essence of worship.

He also  suggested that the believer  be humble, yet firm when making dua and said, “When one of you supplicates, he should not say, ‘O ALLAH, forgive me if You will,’ but be firm in asking and make the desire great, for what ALLAH gives is nothing great for Him.”

When we make dua, when we call upon ALLAH in our hour of need, or express our gratefulness, or for any other reason including simply to feel the comfort of being close to ALLAH, we must remember to examine our sincerity and to check our intention. Dua must be addressed to ALLAH Alone, who has no partners, sons, daughters or intermediaries. Our intention when making the dua must be to please ALLAH, obey Him and trust Him completely.

When a person makes dua ALLAH may give him what he asked for or ALLAH may divert a harm that is greater than the thing he asked for, or ALLAH  may store up what he has asked for, for the Hereafter. ALLAH has commanded us to call upon ALLAH and ALLAH has promised to respond to our call. In the next article we will examine the etiquette of making dua and discuss why some duas seemingly go unanswered.

Jannat-Al-Firdous :

Gardens of Edens

Oh Almighty-ALLAH grant us Jannat-Al Firdous and make it easy for us to achieve it.
JANNAT-AL-FIRDOUS will be entered first by the Last Holy Prophet: Mohammed (peace and blessings of ALLAH-the-Almighty be upon him) then those who lived blessed lives even in poverty, and then the most pious. Entrants will be greeted by angels with salutations of peace or As-Salamu-Alaykum WaRehmatUllaHi Wa BaraKaTuHu.

WHO WILL ENTER THE PARADISE FIRST?

The first one to reach Paradise and to open its gate will be the Messenger of Allah, Mohammad (salAllahu `alaihi wa sallam).
Sahih Muslims narrates that the Prophet (salAllahu `alaihi wa sallam) will come to the gates of paradise and ask for it to be opened.
The gatekeeper will ask, "Who are you?"
The Prophet (salAllahu `alaihi wa sallam) will say, "Muhammad".
The gatekeeper will say, "I was ordered not to open the gate for anyone else before you"".

JANNAH (Arabic: جنّة Jannah) or Jannat, an eternal place for Muslims, is the Islamic conception of paradise. The Arabic word Jannah is a shortened version meaning simply "Garden". According to Islamic eschatology, after death, one will reside in the grave until the appointedresurrection on Yawm al-Qiyāmah : DoomsDay.  Muslims believe that the treatment of the individual in the life of the grave will be according to his or her deeds in the worldly life. According to Muslim belief, everything one longs for in this world will be there in Paradise.

Paradise itself is commonly described in the Qur'an. The highest level of Paradise is Firdous (فردوس), which is where the prophets, the martyrs and the most truthful and pious people will dwell. In contrast to Jannah, the words Jahannam and Nār are used to refer to the concept of hell for disbelievers, mushriks, munafikhs, biddaties,(those who associate patners with Allah); worshippers of false gods and goddesses;  trouble-mongers, corruptors, adulterers, evil-livers, seducers, unholy, not followers of Islam, enemies of Islam, living lives worse than apes, swine and dogs / bitches; not adhering / following the commands, principles and guidelines laid down by Allah the Almighty and the Sunnah or teachings and practices of the Last Holy Prophet: Mohammed (peace and blessings of ALLAH the Almighty be upon him ) and about  … all such described clearly in the Holy Quran.

Descriptions of
JANNAT-AL-FIRDOUS:
Paradise

The descriptions of paradise are mentioned in significant detail in the Qur'an, hadiths and traditional tafsīr (exegesis). Paradise is described as surrounded by eight principal gates, each level generally being divided into a hundred degrees. The highest level is known as firdaous (sometimes translated from the Holy Quran as: Gardens of Eden). It will be entered first by Mohammed, then those who lived in poverty, and then the most pious. Entrants will be greeted by angels with salutations of peace or

As-Salamu Alaykum.

Gardens of perpetual bliss: they shall enter there, as well as the righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their offspring: and angels shall enter unto them from every gate (with the salutation):
"Peace unto you for that ye persevered in patience! Now how excellent is the final home!"

—Qur'an, sura 13 (al-Ra‘d), ayat 23-24.

The Islamic texts describes life for its immortal inhabitants as: one that is happy — without hurt, sorrow, fear or shame — where every wish is fulfilled. Traditions relate that inhabitants will be of the same age : of their best of health that they wish, and of the same standing/equal. Their life is one of bliss including: wearing fancy robes, bracelets, perfumes as they partake in exquisite banquets, served in priceless vessels by immortal youths, as they recline on couches inlaid with gold or precious stones. They will eat foods and fruits unlimited and to their own greatest of wish; with millions and millions of flavor and also every bowl could have new tastes as desired or imagined, limitlessly. They will take eructation which will digest the food and there will be perfumed sweating for the digestion of water. Inhabitants will rejoice in the company of their parents, spouses, and children (provided they were admitted to paradise) — conversing and recalling the past.

The food in Jannah is reported by the companions of the Prophet as never rotting and so sweet it will make any person on earth live without feeling hunger forever. The dwellings for inhabitants will be pleasant, with lofty gardens, shady valleys, fountains scented with camphor or ginger; rivers of water, milk, honey and Sharabun Tahoora (pure drink); delicious fruits of all seasons without thorns;

One day in paradise is considered equal to a thousand years on earth. Palaces are made from bricks of gold, silver, pearls, among other things. Very beautiful descriptions from traditions are mentioned with dazzling expressions of sophistications with all the riches, pomp and show that could ever be imagined by humankind, be it nour… glow… whiteness", along with other creatures. Large trees are described, mountains made of musk, between which rivers flow in valleys of pearl and ruby.
The names of four rivers are Saihan (Syr Darya), Jaihan (Amu Darya), Furat (Euphrates) and Nil (Nile).  Salsabil is the name of a spring that is the source of the rivers of Rahma (mercy) and Al-Kawthar (abundance). Sidrat al-Muntaha is a Lote tree that marks the end of the seventh heaven, the boundary where no creation can pass.

In spite of the goodly dwellings given to the inhabitants of paradise, the approval of God and nearness to him is considered greater. According to the Qur'an, Allah will bring the elect near to his throne (‘arsh), a day on which "some faces shall be shining in contemplating their Lord." The vision of Allah is regarded as the greatest of all rewards, surpassing all other joys

Conditions of going to Paradise

According to the Qur'an, the basic criteria for salvation in afterlife is the belief in Only One and Only Allah-the-Almighty : ALLAH (tawḥīd), Last Judgment, good deeds, and in all the messengers of ALLAH, as well as believing that Mohammed is the last and final prophet of ALLAH.
Though one must do good deeds and believe in Allah, salvation can only be attained through ALLAH's judgement. Conditions of going to Paradise according to the Qur'an:
Those who spend (freely), whether in prosperity, or in adversity; who restrain anger, and pardon (all) men;  for Allah loves those believers who do good;-

And those who, having done something to be ashamed of, or wronged their own souls, earnestly bring Allah to mind, and ask for forgiveness for their sins,- and who can forgive sins except Allah?- and are never obstinate in persisting knowingly in (the wrong) they have done.
For such the reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens with rivers flowing underneath,- an eternal dwelling: How excellent a recompense for those who work (and strive)!

Qur'an, sura 3 (Al-i-Imran), ayat 134 – 136.

Allah did aforetime take a covenant from the Children of Israel, and we appointed twelve captains among them. And Allah said: "I am with you: if ye (but) establish regular prayers, practice regular charity, believe in my messengers, honour and assist them, and loan to Allah a beautiful loan, verily I will wipe out from you your evils, and admit you to gardens with rivers flowing beneath; but if any of you, after this, resisteth faith, he hath truly wandered from the path or rectitude."

Qur'an, sura 5 (al-Mā’idah) ayah 12.

As in life there are many trials which one must face. This is also a condition individuals must encounter in order to enter Jannah.
Or do ye think that ye shall enter the Garden (of bliss) without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? they encountered suffering and adversity, and were so shaken in spirit that even the Messenger and those of faith who were with him cried: "When (will come) the help of Allah?" Ah! Verily, the help of Allah is (always) near!

Qur'an, sura 2 (al-Baqarah), ayah 214.

Did ye think that ye would enter Heaven without Allah testing those of you who fought hard (In His Cause) and remained steadfast?

Qur'an, sura 3 (Al-i-Imran), ayah 142.

The Qur'an also asserts that those who reject the Prophets of Allah the One and Only One God with their best knowledge are damned in afterlife or hereafter and if they reject in front of the Messenger of Allah, then they also face dreadful fate in this world and in afterlife (see Itmam al-hujjah). Conversely, a person who discovers monotheism not having been reached by a messenger is called Hanif.
