The Holy Quran; Tawbah, 129.
The word “nur” / “noor” means:
Ray of light
Brightness
Gleam
Glow
Illumination
(Hans Wehr dictionary of modern
English)
In Quran the word nur / noor is used as a symbol for guidance.
Darkness is
used
for ignorance and is the opposite for guidance. Prophets were sent
with
scriptures to lead their people from darkness to the Light. In the
parable
Quran has beautifully
presented the concept of guidance.
The word “nur” or “noor” is used in the
following contexts in Quran:
What is Light?
ALLAH / The One and Only Creator
of Mankind and all / God has
created
Light and darkness
Light is a symbol for guidance from Allah.
Light is only from Allah.
Guidance is the sense of right or
wrong.
Guidance is wisdom.
Guidance is belief in and applying a
set of principles to lead one’s life.
Source of Light (Guidance) is the scriptures:
Quran is a manifest sign from Allah
to lead people from darkness to
Light.
Quran is the Light and a convincing
proof from Allah to humankind -
174 , 42:52]
Quran is the source of guidance and
a plain book [5:15, 64:8]
In Torah is guidance and Light
[5:44, 6:91,14:5]
Gospel confirms Torah and in it is
guidance and Light [5:46]
Quran leads mankind from darkness to
Light [14:1]
Light of Guidance is only for those
who submit, believe and do good
deeds:
Allah leads believers from darkness to Light. [2:257]
Those who submit to Allah, their
hearts are opened to Light [39:22]
Those who believe and do good deeds
will be led from darkness to
Light [65:11]
Those who seek good pleasure of God
and way of peace, Allah leads
them from darkness to Light [5:16]
Those who are in darkness are not
equal to those who are in Light
[6:122, 35:20]
The Light of believers runs forward
before them on judgment day
[57:12, 57:19, 57:28]
Allah promises to complete his Light
[61:8]
It is important to note that, some
interpretations of Quran seek
esoteric meanings for the concept of nur / noor
which is not the
purpose of this article. Esoteric means hidden or deeper
knowledge or
teachings that are possessed or understood only by a few.
TRUST IN ALLAH - Tawakkul
Relying on Allah the Almighty
&
Building One’s Firm, Devotional Relationship
with
Almighty ALLAH:
“[He is] the Lord of the East and the
West; there is no deity except
Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs.”
(Qur’an 73:9)
Have you ever had that feeling of
anxiety in your heart? What if it
doesn’t work out? What if you never get
over it? The truth is, we have
all felt this way at some point in our
lives. Sometimes, the uncertainty
is just too much to bear, or the hardship of
a moment prevents us
from seeing any light at the end of the tunnel. At times
we
desperately want some kind of medicine, a pill perhaps, to
miraculously take
these worries away.
But we do have that. This pill is
called tawakkul. Like any pill, it’s
sometimes hard to swallow. There are
moments when we wonder
whether this medicine even works, or if it is just some
tool to make us
simply believe we can be better. But Allah, the One – the only
One –
in control of this universe has said:
“…And whoever relies upon Allah – then
He is sufficient for him.”
(Qur’an, 65, 3)
So what does it mean to rely on Allah; to
have tawakkul in Him?
It means to be firm in your
heart. Ibn Ata’illah stated:
“Relieve yourself of worry after you
have planned; do not concern
yourself with what Allah has undertaken on your
behalf.”
With tawakkul, our external burden
or outward struggle is to plan, to
use our means, and to work hard, but in our
heart there is no longer
the worry of this burden. If you are sick, you seek
out the best
option: a professional doctor. If you are applying to university,
you
take your time in preparing your application to meet the criteria. But
also
know that after you have done your daily work and faced
struggles, you should
feel a resounding rest in your heart.
Why?
Why?
Allah is Al-Wakeel; this means that it
is He who controls His
worshipers’ affairs and takes care of
them. He never abandons them
nor leaves them to another source.
He has given Himself this Name
and made it known to us, so that we know this is
an essential
attribute of His; thus, we will never be let
down insha’Allah. Even if
things do not go according to plan,
we know that Allah will give us
something that is better. We could
not have entrusted our affairs to
anyone better than Him. This is why, whenever
the idea of relying on
Allah is mentioned in the Qur’an, Allah reminds us of
His power:
“[He is] the Lord of the East and the
West; there is no deity except
Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs.”
(Qur’an, 73,9)
And Allah says,
“…Rely upon the Ever-Living who does not
die…” (Qur’an, 25, 58)
Allah is telling us in Surat
Al-Muzzammil that He is the Lord of the East
and the West, so will
our needs ever go outside of the East and the
West? He tells us in Surat
Al-Fuqan to put our complete trust in Him,
Who never dies, so how can we put
our trust in people who do?
But if the condition
of tawakkul is that we use our provisions and
resources, what if we
lack the means?
Imam Ahmad said the happiest day of his
life was when he woke up
one morning only to find no food in his home, because
he knew that
on this day he had to rely completely on Allah. Imam Ahmad was
very,
very poor since he didn’t have the means as we do to just go to the
market and buy what his heart desired.
Tawakkul also
requires training. We are human, and every now and
then, we will feel this
uncertainty, a loneliness, this knot in the
stomach that maybe our situation
won’t work out. And it’s ok to feel
like this because it is about reminding
ourselves to trust Allah at that
precise moment. If we truly rely on Allah, in
the way we rely on our
doctor when we know we have the best one around, this
trust can
only give us the peace of mind and tranquility of heart knowing that
Allah is always doing the best for us. This tranquility is developed
when we
face situations of discomfort and uncertainty. When we truly
have tawakkul,
we will never seek haraam means to escape our
situation, because we
believe it is only Allah who determines the
result.
Hence, whenever we
feel disheartened or uncertain, let’s take abide by our
restrain and maintain tawakkul.
We must do what we can to our best
and simultaneously retain utmost trust in
the guarantee that Allah will
give you the result you need.

Believers: Trust in Allah
In Allah let believers put their trust.
The Glorious Quran; 3, 122(part).
Chapter 3 - Surah Al-Imran
Put your trust in Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him). (3;159).
If Allah helps you, none can overcome
you; and if He forsakes you, who is there after Him that can help you? And in
Allah (Alone) let believers put their trust.(3: 160).
And put your trust in Allah. And Allah is Ever All-Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs.(4:81).
So fear Allah. And in Allah let believers put their trust.(5:11).
And put your trust in Allah if you are believers indeed.(5:23).
[Shu'aib (AS) said:] "...In Allah (Alone) we put our trust..."(7:89).
And they (the believers) put their trust in their Lord (Alone)(8:2).
Whoever puts his trust in Allah, then surely, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
(8:49).
And (put your) trust in Allah. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. (8:61).
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our Maula (Lord, Helper and Protector)." And in Allah let the believers put their trust. (9:51).
But if they turn away, say (O Muhammad SAW): "Allah is sufficient for me. None has the right to be worshipped but He, in Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne."(9:129).
[Nuh (AS) said:] "...I put my trust in Allah..."(10:71).
And Musa (Moses) said: "O my people! If you have believed in Allah, then put your trust in Him if you are Muslims (those who submit to Allah's Will)." (10:84).
They said: "In Allah we put
our trust. Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the folk who are Zalimun
(polytheists and wrong-doing) (i.e. do not make them overpower us). (10:85).
"And save us by Your Mercy from the
disbelieving folk."(10:86).
[Hud (AS) said:] "I put my trust in
Allah, my Lord and your Lord!..."(11:56).
[Shu’aib (AS) said:] "...And my guidance cannot come except from Allah, in Him I trust and unto Him I repent."(11:88).
So worship Him (O Muhammad SAW) and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you (people) do.(11:123).
[Ya'qub (AS) said:] "...In Him (Allah), I put my trust and let all those that trust, put their trust in Him."(12:67).
Say: (O Muhammad SAW) "He is my Lord! None has the right to be worshipped but He! In Him is my trust, and to Him will be my return with repentance." (13:30).
Chapter 14 - Surah Ibrahim
[The Messengers [Nuh (AS), Hud (AS),
Salih (AS)] said to their people:] "...And in Allah (Alone) let the
believers put their trust,(14:11).
And why should we not put our trust in Allah while He indeed has guided us our ways. And we shall certainly bear with patience all the hurt you may cause us, and in Allah (Alone) let those who trust, put their trust." (14:12).
Chapter 16 - Surah An-Nahl
And as for those who emigrated for the Cause of Allah, after suffering oppression, We will certainly give them goodly residence in this world, but indeed the reward of the Hereafter will be greater, if they but knew! (16:41).
(They are) those who remained patient (in this world for Allah's sake), and put their trust in their Lord (Allah Alone). (16:42).
So when you want to recite the Qur'an, seek refuge with Allah from Shaitan (Satan), the outcast (the cursed one). Chapter 16 - Surah An-Nahl 98.
Verily! He (Shaitan) has no power over
those who believe and put their trust only in their Lord (Allah). (16:99).
And put your trust (O Muhammad SAW) in the Ever Living One Who dies not, and glorify His Praises, and Sufficient is He as the All-Knower of the sins of His slaves; Chapter 25 - Surah Al-Furqan58.
And put your trust (O Muhammad SAW) in the Ever Living One Who dies not, and glorify His Praises, and Sufficient is He as the All-Knower of the sins of His slaves; Chapter 25 - Surah Al-Furqan58.
Who created the heavens and the earth
and all that is between them in six Days...(25:59).
And (O Muhammad SAW) put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.(26:217).
So put your trust in Allah; surely, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on manifest truth. (27:79).
And (O Muhammad SAW) put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.(26:217).
So put your trust in Allah; surely, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on manifest truth. (27:79).
And those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, to them We shall surely give lofty dwellings in Paradise, underneath which rivers flow, to live therein forever. Excellent is the reward of the workers.(29:58).
Those who are
patient, and put their trust (only) in their Lord (Allah).(29:59).
And put your trust (O Muhammad SAW) in Allah, and Sufficient is Allah as a Wakil (Trustee, or Disposer of affairs). (33:3).
And put your trust in Allah, and Sufficient is Allah as a Wakil (Trustee, or Disposer of affairs). (33:48).
Say: [O Muhammad (SAW)] ..."Sufficient for me is Allah; in Him those who trust (i.e. believers) must put their trust."(39:38).
[Say: O Muhammad (SAW)] ..."Such is Allah, my Lord in Whom I put my trust, and to Him I turn in all of my affairs and in repentance."(42:10).
(Paradise) is better and more lasting for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and put their trust in their Lord (concerning all of their affairs).(42:36).
And in Allah
let the believers put their trust.(58:10).
" Our Lord! In You (Alone) we put our trust, and to You (Alone) we turn in repentance, and to You (Alone) is (our) final Return"(60:4).
Allah! None has the right to be worshipped but He, and in Allah (Alone), therefore, let the believers put their trust. (64:13).
Say (O Mohammed (sallallaho-alaihe-wasallam:SAW): "He is the Most Beneficent (Allah), in Him we believe, and in Him we put our trust..." (67:29).
Chapter 65 - Surah At-Talaq
And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). (65:2).
And He will
provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust
in Allah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allah will accomplish his purpose.
Indeed Allah has set a measure for all things.(65:3).
Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (2:256).
Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (2:256).
And whosoever
submits his face (himself) to Allah, while he is a Muhsin (good-doer), then he
has grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold. And to Allah return all matters for
decision.(31:22).
"Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)." (3:173).
"Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)." (3:173).
So worship Him
(Alone), and He is the Wakil (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian, etc.)
over all things. (6:102)
And Allah is a
Wakil (Disposer of affairs, Trustee, Guardian, etc.) over all things. (11:12)
Allah is the
Creator of all things, and He is the Wakil (Trustee, Disposer of affairs,
Guardian, etc.) over all things.( 39:62. ).

ENORMITIES:
(Major Sins, al-Kabaa'ir) from Islamic point of view, must be
understood well; so that we can desist from them. This is taken from Umdat
us-Salik, or Reliance of the Traveller, which in turn is an edited form of the
Kitab al-Kaba'ir by Imam Dhahabi.
An enormity is described as any sin entailing either a threat of punishment in the hereafter explicitly mentioned in the Qur'an or Hadiths, a prescribed legal penalty (hadd), or being accursed by Allah or His messenger (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him).
Being aware of that which will lead us to the hell fire; is obligatory for every Muslim to learn and understand, since many of the enormities deal with the sins of the tongue.

ABOMINATION
has 3 senses:
1. a person who is loathsome or

2. hate coupled with disgust
3. an action that is vicious or vile; an action that arouses disgust or abhorrence
